You've probably heard of speed dating by now. It has so permeated Western popular culture that even those who aren't looking for love know what it is. The concept was introduced to the American dating scene at the turn of the 20th century by Rabbi Yaacov Deyo and his wife, Sue, who founded their own service, SpeedDating. The service is based on an old Jewish tradition: helping young, single Jews meet others in the faith. This tradition of creating a shidduch, or a match, called for Jewish singles to be kept in the dark about each other until the time for matchmaking came.
If you're single in the city and would like to enjoy dating Jewish single professionals while cutting through all the hoopla of the "first date" scene, Professionals in the City has the solution for you. Here's your opportunity to experience many first dates in only one evening! During our Jewish Speed Dating event, you'll spend a few minutes with each new acquaintance before our hosts announce when it is time to rotate.
After over 15 years, our permanent exhibition is beginning to look old. So we are closing it temporarily at the end of the year to make room for something new. But before we do, we would cordially invite you to explore the permanent exhibition once more and perhaps discover it from a whole new perspective in the process of saying good-bye.
